I was looking up Carl Barks the other day (mostly because I mentioned him in my interview) and found this great Donald Duck Family Tree. It was actually done by Don Rosa, who based it on Barks’ notes about Donald’s ancestry.
My brother and I used to talk about the mysteries of the Duck family. We never knew it had been fleshed out to this degree. What’s funny in the Disney universe is the proliferation of nephews and nieces. Who are the parents of Huey, Duey and Louie? What about Mickey’s nephews, Mortie and Ferdie? Or Daisy’s (only seen in comic books?) nieces, April, May, and June? The only true father/son relationship in the cartoons seemed to be Goofy & his son, Junior. (Where’s the Goof’s wife?)
Well, it turns out H, D, & L have a mother named Della. Their father? He remains a mystery, like the location of the Simpsons’ Springfield.
