To my knowledge, this is the order

1. William Gibson
Missing around 30 pages from his first and only draft submitted. No rewrites.

2. Eric Red
Somewhat similar to William Gibson's script (possibly from the same rough Giler/Hill treatment) in terms of the "alien virus" and space station setting, but otherwise a complete rewrite.

3. David Twohy
First prison-planet story. Bears a number of similarities with the later Alien Resurrection script.

4. John Fasano/Vincent Ward
New story.

5. Rex Pickett
Draft of Giler/Hill's rewrite of Vincent Ward's idea.

6. Walter Hill/David Giler
Shooting script, though rewritten during production.

I like the Avatar 3D movie, particularly the story line, not only it brings a very new sensation but eye opening ideas of humanity. I heard the New Avatar 2 is comming soon, cannot wait to watch it again...!

Let me applaud you for following your muse and completing at least one screenplay. That's more than most people "with an idea" do. There are a few things I think you should know.

1) Registering your work with the WGA is different than copyrighting. Your work is automatically yours the second you finish it, and registering with the guild helps back that up, but they have nothing to do with copyright. If you want to register your copyright more officially, that means sending it with a small fee to the U.S. Copyright Office. http://copyright.gov/

2) Writing fan scripts and treatments can be fun, but studios are not generally interested in taking such pitches. I'm sure others would tell you the same thing. Also, writing or producing pieces about characters you don't own restricts what you can do with the material down the road.

3) If your last comment here is any indication, spelling is not your strong point. Make sure you have someone you trust proofread your scripts for spelling and grammar.

Good luck!

I wrote a screenplay that I copywrote at the guild of america. Called JASON : Friday the 13th. People who are film geeks that don't like horror or the friday the 13th series really liked it and the social undertones of it. I'm also writing A Nightmare on Elm Streety sequel something never done and it makes perfect cents. wish I could pitch my three ideaas to New Line all of them are and would be great for the franchise.

I pretty much feel the same way. Once I knew Avatar was getting made, I made the decision not to read the scriptment. I'd rather see the movie fresh. Afterward, I'll read the scriptment and see what changed or stayed the same.

Generally, I don't seek out spoilers. I maintain this site for educational use, not to spread rumors or be critical of works in progress. When Cameron's people asked that I take down the scriptment, I was happy to oblige.

I would expect your fan site to be popular even after the movie is released. It sounds like you've got the right attitude.

Thanks Mike, I appreciate the update. The first link worked of course, but I'm trying to encourage the publicized URL instead of the 'behind the curtain' URL.

Anyway, a nice site you got going here and allow me to share a little on that descriptions page. I have been following Avatar with this site a year now, and I have struggled with whether it is ethical to display the scriptment descriptions.

On one hand, I think it creates interest in the film by providing the descriptions for fans to get an idea of the narrative Cameron has created in the grand tradition of 50's-60's classic sci-fi literature. On the other hand, Cameron has expressed displeasure that the scriptment has been leaked online. I have taken the descriptions offline/online numerous time because I teeter if it is ethical for it to be displayed.

Currently I have it displayed because for now, number 1) It is not word-for-word verbatim of the scriptment, and 2) This page is one of the most popular pages of AMZ.

For the moment, I justify its display because it is a stand alone read and it does not reveal a beginning to end narrative.

Whether Avatar is a huge success or it falls flat, there is no doubting one thing.... Any aspect of Cameron re-entering the world of feature film will create intrigue of the highest level..that's an excitement that we haven't seen since the mega-action flicks of the fabulous 80's that he is known for.
